CAPA News for the Winter of 2008
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The Holiday period is now over and the snow from our second storm is mostly cleaned up and 2008 is now here.  Woodcock, Grouse, Pheasant (still open at the Hunt Preserves), Duck and Deer seasons are done for the year and ice fishing has started.  So I guess now is the official start of remembering 2007.   I remember fondly watching my Pudelpointer CooRhee this year tracking running Woodcock, pointing a covey of 5 Woodcock (had to be a covey because they were all within a 6 foot circle, 2 birds had to veer to avoid each other), her points on grouse (she has finally got it figured out (maybe!)), her retrieving of ducks that had fallen into the standing corn, her retrieves of ducks that fell into the safety zones (Managed areas), her look when I missed a duck (actually ducks).  I hope everyone had a good season and that you will write about it and submit it for the newsletter.  I hope that all of you have a safe and happy holiday season.

Our former Newsletter Editor has resigned so I have asked the Web Master and Secretary to put out this issue.  It is time to renew your membership in CAPA and I ask everyone to do so a soon as possible.  The time for election of new officers is fast approaching and only members in good standing (meaning paid members) have a vote.  I am a big believer in the power of the vote and encourage everyone to use that right.

There has been a lot of controversy, name calling and threats from several members recently.  I will inform everyone right off that I do not tolerate threats, the name calling is un-needful and any controversy can be worked out if people keep an open mind, remain cool and talk things through.  We are trying to better the Pudelpointer breed and to improve the Canadian American Pudelpointer Association.  Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcomed by the Board of Directors at any time; passion is appreciated, but please try to keep the “hurt” feelings out of the e-mails.

Thanks to everyone for a great 2007 and a wish for a better 2008.

Jim Frazer, President
